Confusion of the Afternoon

Concept & Narrative Alignment

During pre-production, the director and I established Tango as the film's core musical identity. Beyond complementing an on-screen dance sequence, tango's innate push-and-pull rhythm and fatalistic undertone served as an auditory metaphor for the protagonist's psychological struggle, caught between the impulse to reach out and the instinct to withdraw.

Orchestration & Duality

The instrumentation intentionally bifurcates reality and desire. An intimate, pure piano voice plays the lead melody, functioning as the character's internal monologue. In contrast, lush orchestral passages are reserved exclusively for the protagonist's romanticized daydreams of intimacy, utilizing sonic scale to delineate the boundary between suppressed reality and vivid longing.
